Blair Pieczynski

My name is Blair Pieczynski and I’m an acupuncturist and herbalist licensed by both the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM.org) and the Iowa Board of Medicine.  I am trained in and practice Traditional Chinese Medicine, or TCM.  TCM includes acupuncture, herbal medicine, cupping, gua-sha, tui-na, diet/lifestyle recommendations, auricular therapy, and other modalities, which date back over 3,000 years.  After graduating from the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2009, I decided Iowa needed more acupuncturists (only 52 licensed acupuncturists in Iowa!!)  And so, I moved home to offer this amazing medicine to the family and community that helped raise me. Since October of 2009 I have successfully treated thousands of patients and continue to treat a wide variety of issues. I am excited to continue integrating acupuncture into mainstream healthcare at a time when people are looking for healthy and affordable options.  Many people ask why I became an acupuncturist: the biggest reason is because it worked so well for my grandparents and I, without the risk of side effects.

At the initial intake and throughout the course of treatment we ask questions and observe many things to help us to diagnose and treat the root of the imbalance, or dis-ease.  Ultimately, our bodies have the ability to heal on its own, but sometimes needs a little guidance or help along the way.  Acupuncture needles communicate with your body’s energy to help direct its natural healing response.  You don’t need to ‘believe’ in acupuncture for it to work, as it works very well on animals and pessimists ;)

Most find acupuncture to be very relaxing and painless, though you may feel varying sensations with the needles.  Acupuncture involves a very individualized treatment plan, therefore its tough to determine exactly how many treatments a certain condition may require before seeing a patient.  Most people see results within one to 3 treatments, though some cases may need more treatments to obtain the desired results.
